Been playing for years now and I have witnessed the gradual degradation of moral principles followed by the developer executed through predatory monetization schemes and anti-player game mechanics. The developer previously touted about "not being like those other devs" who prey upon their player-base with micro transactions and pay-to-win content, but I suppose he caved to the appeal of potential affluence.

I truly began to dislike this game a while ago when he introduced a new currency to the game that could not be acquired by free players at all. On the surface, not entirely harmful. But he also introduced a lottery system where you win game-breaking buffs that separate your progress exponentially from those who can't afford to spend $500 to get.

Over the years, Lava has introduced over $1000 of cumulative premium packages and items that are borderline essential if you intend to compete with the pace of updates and new content. He continues to introduce new game mechanics that reward the players who spend the most, including a "tournament" system that is quite literally a pay-to-win competition with your paid pets fighting each other. The highest paying players win. He recently released a new world and with that new content he also released a total of over $200 in premium pets, gear, packages, and account-wide buffs, all within a two month period.

I have been trying to quit this game for years now, but it is optimally designed to be as addictive as possible. The name including "Idle" is a total farce, as the game demands you leave it running 24/7 or suffer from devastating progress nerfs from having the game closed. You are tasked to manage now 11 different characters with hundreds of different attention demanding mini games, features, stats, gear, etc. You could neglect everything, but if you are a completionist or someone who fixates on min-maxing and efficiency, this game will engulf your life.

If you're interested in hearing real opinions on this game and its developer, check for unofficial discord servers and reddit threads. The developer looms over any official platforms associated with the game and bans or mutes people who criticize him or his game. He even bans people from the official discord for bringing up bugs or flaws in the game. I STRONGLY recommend that no one play this game, and I hope to one day be freed from its grasp.

BANNED FOR CRITIZING LAVAS NEW GAME

I've got banned from the discord, And already a community discussion about this has been deleted. My exact words : "I hope lava realises what idleon players think when the new game does underwhelming" That was grounds for a ban out of all the idleon communitys. And keep deleting the community posts once people interact with it. 600$ invested in this game i will not let myself get treated like i dont have a voice. Your future lies in your hands I will not be silenced about tyranny....

I would 100% not recommend this game to anyone. This game starts off with a nice behind the scenes story of a solo developer making the whole game by himself. He's a great pixel artist and it was a fun an pleasant free to play game. Of course he threw in some things to make money off of the game just like every free to play game did, but it was a reasonable amount of money.

Fast forward 5 years to present day and you now have a self absorbed game developer who has huge expenses tacked onto every piece of content that comes out. He's tweaked the game to force you to leave your game running 24/7 if you want to make any decent progress and I dont appreciate the wear and tear that puts on my hardware. For an estimate, if you want to try to be a top tier player in this game, expect to spend THOUSANDS of Dollars and once you've done that just to catch up, expect about $200 every single month to keep up.

Another good game idea ruined by an insanely greedy developer.

It's basically a glorified mobile game with big arrows pointing you to microtransactions every 15 seconds. Very prominent in-game store. Multiple QoL features locked behind in-game purchases. P2W at every corner. The game itself is kind of fun for 15 minutes until you realise it's painstakingly designed to make you want to buy stuff.
