Steam Deck

Steam Deck

There is no way to know a steam deck is finished charging
White light can mean it's full. Green light definitely means it's full.

Green when finished? yes, but then if it drops again it will go to white and start charging 5% to top up. So either you see it on green or you see it on white and think it is still charging but actually it is topping up.

When will this be fixed?

It's 2026. This shouldn't be a problem!

It’s mostly cosmetic because, as a best practice, you should keep the Steam Deck plugged into power whenever possible so that power is drawn from the adapter rather than the battery when it isn’t necessary.

Working as intended, I doubt there will be a 'fix' coming.
well its more healthy to charge only to 80%, also i dont think that this needs a "fix" at all
Supposedly the charging light behavior has been altered in the latest beta. I don't know if it solves your issue but folks were reporting the changed based on using the charging limit setting.

This. Very much this. Just let your Deck plugged in until you need it.

Maybe 15 years ago lol. Modern PD charged Lithium goes off charge cycles. All you are doing is slightly lowering the cycle, hardly a difference. You are actually doing more damage by over using certain parts of the battery and not others only going to 80%. Just use the whole battery man I got tons of Lithium cells 7+ years old my current phone is still a S20 ultra that is almost 7 years old charged to 100% every night and battery is perfectly fine still.
