Besides my steam hours, I've been playing this game since the first week it came out on mobile and have everything in the game. I happened to see it in the play store and from that moment on, well, I find myself here now. After convincing my girlfriend to try this game many months ago, I felt inclined to share my thoughts from the perspective of watching a new player.

This game is outstanding if you don't treat it like other gacha games. I recommend this game if you have the patience to basically rewire how you look at gacha. It's really a single player rpg with gacha elements. The story is outstanding with verbiage so excellent you can really visualize what's happening. The combat system takes patience to learn, yet it's rewarding and gratifying if you do. The music is totally rad and the VAs are top notch. The character art is cool and the game doesn't shove softcore goon content into peoples face to gain popularity (Though, the oddyseyhasapurpose forum DOES exist). It has a loyal, sometimes too eclectic, community. It's a great game you can spend 30 minutes or 30 hours in a week playing. All things considered, here's a modicum of perspective.

-You don't need to reroll. I've been lied to by many gacha game communities that "you can just earn everything for free in "x" game." This is the only gacha game I've played that actually means it. Besides the arknights limited ego, there is nothing you can't earn by just saving resources. The battle pass which is 10 dollars dramatically accelerates your progression in this regard and it's basically a yearly purchase. I have spent hundreds to get a character I wanted in other games just to reflect on it with regret, especially on games that did EoS. Due to this, the price felt negligible, especially considering the quality of the story (PMoon deserves the money). If you felt absolutely inclined to reroll, Index nursefather yi sang mauls everything with 9 unbreakable coins. However, the game is super generous.. you'll get lots of opportunities to roll. Every maintenance or hotfix is lunacy in your mailbox. Though I'll admit that yes, pity is 200, and it sucks to hit 200. I have hit that pity several times. The correct choice is to save shards to dispense a week after release and save for limited events like Walp or for team building by head hunting on team exclusive banners (EX: Bloodfiends). I wouldn't melt shards into thread by the way.


- I would strongly suggest that new players focus on story progression and leveling to unlock the content that lets you more efficiently gather resources to boost your units. EX: 4-48 unlocking blue exp tickets. The best part of this game is the story. You can use support units to steamroll all the story fight sequences and catch up to capitalize on all event reruns that give tons of resources and even units.

- Don't get hyper focused on meta. You don't need the heishoslop team or the unga bunga Middle envy mommy outis team right away. Watching a new player whimsically use characters based on how cool they look has actually taught me how to enjoy the game again because I was too serious. It's very forgiving with team building, people have beaten all the story using just the base sinners or even one single character on a hard fight. Use what you want and make goals to build certain statuses. 3 full teams will be ideal when the time comes to try railways, reflectrials (bleh) , or cycling MD farm teams. Though I'll note that even the most meta of MD farming is only ~45 crates an hour. I have never bothered doing this due to fear of burn out, but it's an option.
