We are extending Marathon’s Open Play Week until June 11.  

We’ll also be gifting 50 SILK to everyone who logs in during the Open Play Week. We know the downtime interrupted not just your runs but your plans, and we want to recognize that inconvenience. SILK will be delivered via the in-game mailbox and can be claimed any time before Open Play Week ends at 10AM PT on June 11. 

We’ve issued a ban wave on accounts confirmed to be cheating in Marathon.

As a reminder, players who knowingly benefit from cheating or continue playing with cheaters may also be subject to account actions, up to and including a full game ban.

We've been made aware of an issue on the PlayStation store where players could purchase the Deluxe Edition of Marathon at a mitigated price if they added Marathon to their library during the Open Play Week. Purchasing the Deluxe Edition this way does not include the base game, and we've updated the PlayStation Store messaging to clarify. 
 
For those of you that made this purchase before the messaging was posted on the store page, we'll be granting you the base edition of Marathon at no additional cost. This is in addition to the Deluxe Edition content. More info on timing will come soon. 
 
Going forward, please note that if you've downloaded Marathon during the Open Play Week but have not purchased Marathon, purchasing the Deluxe Edition upgrade will only grant you access to the Deluxe Edition content for the duration of the Open Play Week, after which accessing this content will require purchase of the Marathon base edition. The price of the Deluxe Edition upgrade on the PlayStation Store reflects only the Deluxe Edition content add-ons, not the base edition price. 

We have identified some issues affecting the progression systems and loot economy and will be rolling out a few fixes:  

• Cert containers: Fixing an issue causing more Cert containers to spawn than intended in Night Marsh. 

• Cradle: Given the increased quality and quantity of loot, we've increased progression costs by 25%. 

We are also still tracking down more issues and will be adjusting loot drops globally while we investigate. We want loot to feel rewarding, but also not flood the economy with too many powerful items early in the season. We'll continue to monitor these systems and feedback closely throughout the season.

Season 2’s arrival brings with it some new ways for you to experience Tau Ceti IV: 

• Night Marsh: A pitch black version of Dire Marsh, with new threats lurking 

• Sentinel: Find new ways to control the battlefield with this defensive Runner shell 

• The Cradle: Invest in your Runner shell over the course of the season to customize your stats and perks for your playstyle 

• New weapons: Plow through your enemies with the new KKV-9SD and D54 Battle Pistol 

• New enemies: \[REDACTED] 

And in addition to the above, there’s a bevy of new combat sandbox updates, a bunch of quality-of-life changes, faster progression, and a new experimental mode to kick off the season. Check out the links above to learn more. 

Season 2 brings a new experimental mode, which is planned to run from June 2 to June 9. We mentioned[www.bungie.net] we’re exploring new survival experiences for different moods, like if you want to go full sweat or would rather lean back and chill. Sponsored Survival falls somewhere in between and is a more PVP-lite and low risk way to play Marathon. 

In Sponsored Survival...  

• Only one team will infil onto Night Marsh—if that’s you, you know you’re the only crew on the map. But that doesn’t mean you’re alone...  

• After some period of time, solo Rook players will backfill onto the map. 

• Your only ticket out alive is from the final exfil, which spawns after 18 minutes. 

• Once you get to the final exfil, the decision is yours: Will you accept a truce and leave together, or turn your weapons on each other? 

In Sponsored Survival, crews must bring Sponsored Kits to queue up—and Rooks come in naked—which makes this a low-stakes way to check out the new map, snag some loot, and try to survive the night.

There’s still plenty more coming your way in Season 2. Ranked is getting ready to join the rotation once more, Cryo Archive is on deck, and at least one more experimental queue is coming this season. 

Here are a few other things to keep on your radar in Season 2: 

• Cryo Archive returns on Thursday, June 11 with updated contracts. And remember, any Subroutines you collected in Season 1 carry forward into Season 2.
