The Steam Sale Event Discovery Queue - A Rant
I don't know who here uses the Discovery Queue very regularly, but I can say with confidence I do. I use it very, very regularly to find new games to play, having gone through almost 23 thousand things in it. And I hate the Sale Event version of the Discovery Queue. It's worse in almost every single facet.

But does it really matter?
Yes. Yes it does. I've found hundreds of games that I've bought and played through this. Some of them were games that I managed to, ehm, convince my friends to buy as well. It's easily one of the best things on Steam to find new games, especially smaller games with single or double digit reviews. I've found some realy gems through it.

It can't be that much worse, surely you're overexaggerting.
Oh but it is! When you open the Sale Event version al you get is a single video, name, thumbnail art, price, tags, review info (that has double parenthesis around the number for whatever reason, a very short description and buttons for demo, store page, wishlist and ignore.

That sounds like a ple—
NO! Stop that thought. It is not. I promise you it is not.

Fine, fine, I'll bite. What makes the "normal" version so much better?
I mean everything but if we must go through it all I will. For the betterment of all of us. And mostly for my rant post here.

First and foremost, I can actually see other videos and images that the dev/publisher put up for their game. You know, context. Context that could let me know if I want this game or it goes straight into the massive pile of ignored titles.

Secondly it gives me the developer and publisher which, you know, can be pretty important. I want to know if it's a game from a company that adores awful monetization or has a habit of abandoning their games.

Third...ly... I want to know if a game is still in Early Access because, maybe, just maybe, that's important information. I don't want to get excited for a game, click on the store link, and find out that oh great I need to wait an unknown amount of time for the game to be finished. The fact that I can add the game to my wishlist without the page ever showing me it's still in Early Access is terrible.

Whatever, why do you care it'll go away after the—
Because it's temporary for now and during the huge sale events that's fine?! Pshaw I say! Pshaw! This is the worst time to have it be terrible, when I'm more likely to throw my money at Steam! And, for a touch of doomerism, what if it doesn't go away one day after the sale? What if we're stuck with this awful version?

Just... just no. I don't want that. None of us should want that!

So to the Steam Sale Event Discovery Queue I say this: I hope your code is deleted and all backups sent forth into the sun where they belong.

Rant over.

so ignore the sale queue and keep using the regular one? don't need to make a wall of text over it
No one from Valve or Steam are in this steam related sub-forum to read your AI Rant.
AI rant how? And yes I know you can still use the normal queue but what if they ditch it? That's the fear I have.
I called it. It is now the default discovery queue and it's complete trash.
you can ignore it and just use the normal one

It’s not reachable on mobile so if you’re browsing Steam on mobile you can only use the new terrible discovery queue. I truly don’t know what metric they measured to feel it needed to be overhauled into a worse state.

It is very reachable on mobile.

In the top navigation bar on the store page, select "Recommendations" and then "Your Discovery Queue."
