Reviewing games non politically.

Just so you guys know, I've been doing a few 'non political' reviews. I've been getting a few games submitted through curator connect. I felt like if they are going to send me games, its only fair I offer a recommendation if I thought they had something to offer. I make sure to tag these 'non political'.

I felt wrong getting games and doing nothing with them. They are typically super indie games, often asset flip stuff, or first time unity devs.

I do a social media search to make sure they aren't calling for violence anywhere, and I haven't seen anything yet. I also don't do non recommend if I don't personally care for the game, I'm saving that for political reasons only. I don't want to unfairly label a game with a not recommended tag cause I fear some people might not look at the context.

Just letting you know. When I started this I didn't even know this system existed, and when I noticed it I thought I really should help out these guys if I think they deserved it. It kind of goes against the ideological line of the curator, but not adding them to the 'celebrate these devs instead' list, and I'm making it clear its not political.

Regarding the recent Guardian article:

https://www.theguardian.com/games/2023/feb/08/pushing-buttons-hogwarts-legacy-jk-rowling

For those who are not aware, the UK site 'The Guardian' recently posted an article about bigotry in Steam groups, and curators.

While they mentioned this curator, they did not specifically say it was bigoted but its inclusion in such article, I find, is guilt by association.

In the article they interviewed the developer of the game 'Coven', who on Sept 10th, before all the facts were known, posted a meme of George Lucas saying 'it's like poetry', in regards to his (Coven Devs) own comment that Kirk was killed by an old white man (now know to be false).

This got him on the list. Yet this was not mentioned in the above article. It characterized this curator as : (their words not mine) "a curator devoted to recommending games based solely on whether their developers are perceived to have correctly mourned the assassination of rightwing activist Charlie Kirk."

At no point have I said its because I didn't like how someone 'mourned'. Its how they celebrated it or mocked it or used similar language that lead to it happening.

They also mention his cries that his game was review bombed with 'RIP Charlie' mentions. calling it harassment. They made no effort to mention any time I have said 'do not harass'. I've never told people to do that, I have merely called out their hateful posts they publicly posted on their accounts they use to promote their game.

They go on to mention how Steam support was unhelpful in removing this curator (Thank you Steam) because they said it wasn't off topic, because its based on actions of the developers. Guardian did not say if they agree or disagree, but its worth noting they were pro-Hogwarts Legacy boycott (https://www.theguardian.com/games/2023/feb/08/pushing-buttons-hogwarts-legacy-jk-rowling).

Why am I posting about this over a week late? Because I had emailed them a week ago, and even though they said they would get back to me, they have not. Only to say the relevant editor is on leave. Which is unacceptable. You can not slander me and the people of this group like that, and claim the editor isn't available. The Guardian doesn't cease to operate, pull another editor. The new cycle has moved on, more people have seen the slander than will ever see whatever retraction you offer at this point.

Again, I want to reiterate. DO NOT HARASS anyone involved in this story.

Also, I choose to remain anonymous and I do not monetize this for a number of reasons. One reason I feel if I do I can't remain anonymous at least not fully,

Due to this, its not legally actionable in anyway and my day to day life isn't affected. So why do I care?

Because dishonest reporting should always be called out. Make their cost benefit analysis for dishonestly force them to ere on the side of truth. Misrepresentations no matter how small should not go unchallenged.
Looks like we got our first win.

The community manager for Ready or Not - keep in mind this is a game about stopping public shootings and the community manager said 'nothing of value was lost' regarding Kirk, has all but been confimed to be out of the position.

If they are okay with it happening to him, they are okay with it happening to you.

He no longer is in the RoN discord server, and his profile no longer has his role as a Void Interactive employee. The community is all convinced. The remaining employees in the discord have not confirmed or denied it.

Ready or Not is staying on the list, until Void Interactive issues a proper statement regarding this.

If they do, I'll discuss with you guys if the statement is enough to remove.

This is a game that is right the alley of 2nd Ammendment Conservatives, and I myself actually like it (though I hear recent updates shit the bed - I haven't played in a bit)

Guys, please do not go looking for the source of a review if I kept the source unidentified

Example, if the post was deleted and I can only vaguely mention it, don't go asking around trying to find who it is, at least as long as your a member here.

I don't want to get accused of harrassment. If its one someone's account, I'll link the account on my X. They posted it publically, its fair game. This goes double for indy devs (the searching i mean). I don't need a cross community fight or accusations of harassment. This is informational only.

Antifa has been officially announced as a terrorist organization. What this means for us!

Donald Trump just announced Antifa is terrorist org.

This project is about calling out violence, and now that Antifa is a terrorist org I am expanding entries onto the CharlieTweetsDetected list to everyone supporting Antifa AFTER today.

I don't expect it to be fair to go through old tweets, or bluesky posts, but everything made after today Sept 17 2025 - that supports Antifa from a game dev will land them on this list.

PFP for any dev profiles that show an Antifa flag - IF the PFP remains on a account that has active postsstarting Sept 18th, will get flagged.

This does not extend to a dev merely saying they are 'anti-fascist', that isn't the same as Antifa.

I just made a handful of you guys mods.

I looked through the threads and found a handful of you who seem to be using this group for the intended purpose. I don't really want to shut off comments, I want this place to grow and it needs to be active to do that.

If we get overwhelmed and brigaded maybe I'll make discussions and chat mod only but I rather not.

Moderate as much or as little as you like. You also have access to chat if your a mod.

I locked down the chat room.

Sorry I didn't before, I didn't know I could til now.

That is a nightmare to moderate in real time, so to use the chat you need to be a moderator, and to be a mod I need to trust you.

That said, anyone how has submitted an entry for the list that has been actionable can apply.

Just remind me what you sent me, and I'll let you become a mod if you want it.

Looking for mods.

When I set out to make a curator, I was actually hoping it would just be a list. I didn't expect moderation on top of it, which I will do but its just extra.

If anyone wants to be a mod please let me know.

Rules that I can think of right now.

Be here in good faith. Don't come to call us snowflakes or misrepresent what this is.

Don't Dox.

I don't really want to police to police much opinion but I also want to remain focused, so more rules will come at my discression / bans will happen based on how annoying you are.

This forum is really just something I didn't intend so if you make this a job for us, I will very trigger happy. Thanks
