Hello Dukers,

First I want to say that I hope things have been good for all of you. It's been awhile but we are still pretty active. There's been a ton of news for Duke Nukem this year. I'm going to run down a few headlines in case anyone missed the Duke news.

An unfinished version of the official Duke Nukem Forever 2001 game leaked.
On 5-10-22 the game was leaked. Though mostly its for viewing and exploring there's still a lot of content in it. And gives a great view of what it would of been if they had finished this game in the time frame. In my own opinion it's a really solid game foundation and is very nice seeing it in action. It also comes with a working editor for making levels and more. The MP is intact and can be played with two dedicated servers running now. Though you will have to patch it with a mp patch to get them to show up. There's an entire team devoted to restoring the game to a fully playable version. DNF 2011 Get's an editor!
Around Late July 28th-30th user known as icecoldduke started working on making the editor work. He updated it quite a few times now and it is a very workable editor now. This really set a shockwave into the Duke Community. Especially being shortly after the 2001 leak.

Duke Nukem Movie: John Cena as Duke?

Today I find a confirmation that John Cena is the man going to play Duke.

Personally, I think Cena has the look and attitude. The actor to play Duke needs to have a certain stature, rep, attitude, and build. I think out of today's actors (not past and present) John Cena fits the bill. Plus he is a hero to a lot of todays younger crowds and that could bring attention from them also. This isn't too far out of line, since The Rock played "Sarge" in the Doom movie.

I think whether its a good movie or not will heavily depend on the directors, story, and producers takes on Duke. I'm more concerned about this section myself at the moment. Its going to be hard to nail this down but possible. Hopefully they can pull this off and get us a decent film!

That's just my opinion what are your thoughts on Cena playing Duke? Or even having a Duke movie?

Dear Gearbox: Please allow the release of the DNF 2001 build

There's been talks between 3DR and Gearbox about possibly releasing the 2001 build of Duke Nukem Forever. It started back on Twitter in April then a live chat video between Gearbox's Randy Pitchford, 3D Realms Frederick Schreiber, and Duke 4 members took place back in July of 2017.

During the live chat 3D Realms pitched an idea to Gearbox about possibly releasing DNF 2001. Randy Pitchford responded that he would look into it and discuss that with them more in private. More talks have occured in recent times but nothing has come of it yet.

Supposedly DNF 2001 is about 90% done already. So it wouldn't be too hard to release this. I was thinking we should have a post about it to hopefully bring more encouragment to release that.

So Gearbox if anyone there checks these things please allow this to go through. Here's some reasons why it could be good.

Gearbox could gain more Duke Nukem community support by allowing this. Gearbox gets a lot of backlash from Duke fans, and its understandable at certain points because it can seem like they're trying to hold Duke back. I for one don't hate Gearbox as much as the average Duke fan. But doing this would surely bring a bit of harmony back to the current owners of Duke.
Patch the broken relationship between 3DR and Gearbox. There seems like there is always animosity between these two labels. Gearbox giving them the green light to release this should surely plant a seed of trust between the two.
DNF 2001 is now a historical piece of Duke Nukem and it shouldn't be lost. It would just make everyone involved happy. And giving a piece of lost history could cause a nice spark towards future Duke Nukem news. The past helps the present.
