I just spent 15 minutes trying to turn off "showing ready to play only"!
In the older clients, I had 19 groups setup for all sorts of game genres. However now when I click on "2D Action", I have "217 games in this collection not shown due to your selected view filter", of which there is no filters button, nor UI controls next to "showing ready to play only" so I can turn off this filter that I apparently chose? Next, when I finally found how to create a dynamic group, I checked all the boxes, hoping that the filter was "inclusive", but nope, it's an exclusive filter, meaning I have to create individual filters for single-player vs. multiplayer?

Finally when I noticed the LITTLE TINY PLAY BUTTON on the left side, all my games appeared from the 1st group, but what I'd really want is just to select a game without having to navigate through this developer's wonky method of what works best.

Please hire a usability engineer to lead your audience through the various views of clients (app, bigpict, taskbar, mobile) ... I think you'll find the more the UI's been tweaked with advanced functionality, the more you've gotten away from the library being an app-launcher.

i just did the same thing and thanks for the help
I managed to give up and go searching my way to this post at only about 5 minutes, but I am definitely being annoyed by this issue in 2022.

I think I'd be happier if the "Showing ready to play only" text was clickable or in some way pointed back to the main list button.
This design drove me nuts...
thank you. I finally found it. That was stupid. Apparently I accidentally clicked it while trying out a new mouse.
Why do they have to make it so complicated?
I don’t mean to sound shallow but are they even American? :steamfacepalm:
Haha there is only one my dear 🇺🇸
2024, I had to google this and came to this thread. Worked like a charm. Extremely weird UI decision.

When I click the button, it does nothing, did you experience this issue?
So the original post was April 2020, And I and others are still having to Google and come here 4 years later to find an answer that should be blatently obvious.
2024 and it's still so annoying... I just want to see my damned games but it shows zero games in my collection unless I manually find and install the game, then it will show up. I just want to see all my games I own in a collection. No way to disable that "ready to play" tag on collections.
Thanks SO much Yokon! This drove me NUTS! I wanted to see ALL my games but just couldn't get it right... I think I saw the play button at one stage but forgot. They REALLY should make this a filter option, not a little obscure play button somewhere!
This is absurd. Why is Steam changing my games view and not giving me a hint? I'd fire the guy who did this, seriously. This is a really, REALLY bad thing to do against your customers.
December 20th, 2024. This is a strange design decision. I have seemingly no way to toggle this feature. Tells me to go to settings/library, but there is nothing there to toggle.

♥♥♥♥ me. So I literally had to create a new collection and hit the toggle on the left side there, and now it works everywhere. That's a bug.
You're a hero. Thanks for sharing how you figured this issue out. I must have clicked that play button initially by mistake.
I just wanna add games to my collection really, but when I uncheck show only ready to play the games and I check it again, I thought the game that was added to my collection is still there, but they gone when I'm activating the show only ready to play the games, so weird. Steam can you please do something about it?:crying_yeti:
