lately Eternal Silence had major issues with steam, which also messed with our GameTimes - sadly the section causing problems is not accessible for mod coders (meaning it is hard/impossible to debug), but Kage found a fix inside the forums for the game "The Ship" (so apparently we weren't the only ones with that problem).

SteamQuickFix:

This is a little Program I wrote, which applies the fix to your steam installation - assuming your Windows user has the necessary rights (you might need to run it as Administrator).

The steps the program is following:
-Close Steam
-Delete the ClientRegistry.blob from your <STEAMDIR>
-Remove the line containing "Steam2Ticket" from each user's localconfig.vdf (<STEAMDIR>\userdata\<user>\config\localconfig.vdf)
-Restart Steam

Of course you can also do all that by hand, if the exe doesn't work, or you generally don't trust exe-files from the internet.

Greetings space-fans!

Recently the dev team has begun a huge effort to kick ES back to it's former glory; A new Orange Box port is on it's way and the campaign is slowly coming into form. Hopefully there's still a lot of great moments to come in Eternal Silence.

As I'm writing this we're shipping a new update to Valve (we'll let you know when it's out on the forums), and there's plenty of stuff to be excited about. So I want to invite you to participate in a weekly day of ES-gaming, where we fill the servers and start some massive space-battles. The game really is much mors fun when the servers are full. Eternal Silence, ModDB Top 100 of 2009 and 2007 IGF Winner: Best Multiplayer FPS Mod, is being developed by the up-and-coming independent development group Ignition-Point Entertainment!

In 2007 the original development group, Crankshaft Games, stopped development of Eternal Silence at release v3.3 and started development of Party of Sin. Since then the ES community has been building a team. Finally, three years later, the community team has formed into a development group and is creating hot new content for the game! Ignition-Point Entertainment, I.-P.E., has recently released Update 3.6, our biggest update yet!

Some of the features that have been added include 1) all new tutorials to help new players become accustomed to the complex physics of space, 2) never-before-seen maps featuring multiple capships and ground bases, and 3) a revamped sound theme. In addition, many tweaks to the gameplay, HUD, and ships have been made to make the entire space combat experience much more exciting and immersive!

Developing ES into new and unproven grounds is the best thing that could happen to this game and its concept in my opinion. It's clear that the team is determined to give the players the best, and we have been working harder than ever with incredible results. Update 3.5, the first update from Ignition-Point Entertainment, has officially been committed to the official Steam server. Included are tweaks to everything from ships to maps to textures. Some of the most anticipated changes include a buff to the UTF Fighter, the ability to spray logos, and map balancing for cp_Relay and cp_Warpath. There's something here for everyone; check it out in-game!

Changelog

- UTF Fighter has received a slight buff in order to make it more up to par with the NGM fighter.
- TB has been buffed. The secondary shot now kills fighters and interceptors in one hit.
- Gunship has been re-named to Dropship.
- Dropship has been upgraded. The dropship pilot is now able to drop mines that will seek out any attacker within its vicinity, similar to the bomber mines.
- New ship: Old UTF fighter. This old fighter pre-dates the NGM-UTF war, and is actually the basis of the NGM fighter design. Thus, the Pre-War fighter and the NGM fighter handle very similarly. Can be found in maps with old space bases and ships.
- Improved the hologram screen texture. The textures now move and flicker.
- Added support for spraying logos, and added a few stock logos to the game.
- New texture set by Philip K.
- Improved sound handling by tankbusters and ships. Both are now audible to other players at a distance.
- New default control scheme.
- Minor balance changes to es_nebular, es_ice and cp_warpath.
- New vent entry system in cp_relay to make attacking easier.

We'll be releasing Update 3.55 mid-February including new maps, sounds, gameplay updates, and more!
