"You are not currently eligible for a booster pack"
Usually, after I’ve earned all the available trading cards by playing the game, its badge menu would say: "No card drops remaining”-“ How do I earn card drops?” – “You are now eligible for a booster pack". This means that there is now a chance to receive a booster pack for that game when someone creates its badge.

However, some time ago I’ve discovered that when I click “How do I earn card drops?”, I get “You are NOT currently eligible for a booster pack" instead, as if I haven't got all the available cards by playing the game yet. It’s the same for all my games, including those for which I've earned all the cards and created badges long ago.

I don't get what's going on. Did Steam penalize me for something? But no, my profile says “No VAC bans”. Have I been away from Steam for far too long? The FAQ says you need to log in once a week to maintain your booster pack eligibility, but it doesn't say how to get it back once you’ve lost it. However, if I click "View my booster pack eligibility" in the badges menu, it says that I’m “currently eligible to receive a booster pack in the following products”.

So, it's unclear whether I'm eligible for packs, and if not, why, and how to get that eligibility back. Does anyone know, by any chance?

From what I know, it sometimes bugs and shows the wrong message.
Is it a game that you got for free on Steam? Those don't drop cards and you're not eligible for boosters.
If you had a message "You are now eligible for a booster pack" and now it's changed/disapppeared for the same games, then i think you got a bug, unfortunately. Maybe if you just wait, they'll cure it in some updates... Or you can try to do something: create a ticket to Steam TechSupport {although Steam has the most useless TechSupport i've ever seen tbh} or, let's say, clear the Steam cache and then re-launch it with re-entering your credentials...

I believe you are still eligible for all those booster-packs you was previously eligible for. You can also try to add some free game on your account {without the cards}, or buy some cheap new game with cards. Maybe it'll cure the bug, but mostly i'm just guessing...

You are not marked those games you had as 'Private' recently, right?

I'm talking about ALL my games. Most I've bought directly on Steam, some got via gifts or activated with codes. And all of them did drop cards, so I don't think this is the case.

Hopefully so ...

Didn't work. Which is unfortunate, but expected. The probem is present on my PC, on my laptop and on mobile Steam app, so it probably isn't about a bug on one device.

Hopefully, but with how rare booster pack drops are nowadays, it's impossible to tell

Didn't help either. I bought a new game with cards, launched it and got one card for playing. Didn't cure the bug.

No, I have not.

I guess I have no choice but to try techsupport, though I don't have high hopes ... My first guess, however, was the fact that FAQ says we should log into Steam at least once a week to remain eligible for booster packs. There was a time I was busy with other things, so I might have missed a week. But FAQ doesn;t say how to restore eligibility. Is it supposed to happen automatically once I log in again?
Yeah, i always thought that as soon as you log in on Steam again you immediately restore your right for receiving the boosters :)
Well, if anyone is interested, Steam support says it is indeed a visual bug and I am eligible for booster packs. I guess I have to trust them and wait until they fix it in some update.
Thanks to everyone who's answered here!:happystar2022:
