Overrated trash. Rockstar died after Gay Tony.

Didn't like most RPGs when coming into this game, but wanted to play it to keep up with Yakuza. Still don't care much for the genre, but I liked that RGG tried something different in an attempt to start fresh with the series.
Ichiban and his friends are really interesting characters, the minigames are fun, and Yokohama was an interesting hub to explore. The wackiness the series has always had feels like it got turned up a bit too much at times, but there's still enough seriousness to make the story compelling, and at least some of the enemy designs were charming and funny if nothing else.

Looking back, this seemed like a really promising start of a new chapter for the series, although it seems RGG still has a hard time letting go of Kiryu...

Anyways, I got filtered and couldn't even finish the game. Got stuck at a certain boss fight late in the game and got too bored trying to grind. Sorry. Would still recommend, though.

Charmingly unhinged and feels like playing OG Quake. Might actually be peak.

Feels very different from the original game, for better and sometimes for worse. But, still really enjoyed it throughout. Does a good job remaking the game as well as standing out as its own thing.

I also recommend playing the original as well, if for no other reason than as a reference point for what changed in this game.

Enjoyable Monkey Ball-style game. The physics feel a bit slower and bouncier compared to other similar games, although it doesn't feel outright uncontrollable. Custom maps is always an appreciated feature. Pick this one up when you can, even if it's still at full price.

what were they thinking

enjoyed the story and most of the characters, but I wish the dialogue at times didn't feel like it's repeating itself. it got kinda tedious.
