The gameplay is very free form. There is guidance if needed; the hint system can show solutions and offer guidance, but be careful. It does not tell you the full consequences of a solution or choice.

I love this game and would recommend it to anyone who likes oldschool platformers. A word of warning, the controls will feel extremely floaty and unlike anything in modern gaming. This allows for more precision when landing, but it will feel awkward to some. I cannot think of a more precise way to put this, but if this sounds like a problem, then you should not purchase this game. It is an excellent platofmrer/rpg comprable to Popful Mail and Metroid.

This is my favorite game in the style of Dark Souls. It is 2D; something is lsot in the transition to 2D, but so much more is gained. The vertical combat is actually enjoyable and there is a much needed boost to mobility. I have played a tank with some miracles and I have specialized in maces. I cannot say how magic or rapiers valanced out, but I could see how they would contribute to an entirely different playstyle. With heavy armor the character feels like RIchter from Castlevania: of Blood; lighter armor and the character feels like Maria. This is the first Souls game where I enjoy a lightly armed and agile character. I love everything SKa Stuidios has produced. And Symphony of the NIght is pretty much my favorite game ever. So this should make my biases obvious.

i have always wanted to see a video game adaptation of Spycraft and this is it. The game really is one of a kind. The combat is a bit unrefined, but it works. THe main draw of the game is how the story and gameplay actually reflect your decisions. One play through is not enough to see everything. I love Human Revolution, but I honesetly feel that this game is a better continuation of what Deus Ex started.
