Hello again Sleepers! 

Happy first week anniversary of Dune: Awakening! The actual anniversary is still a couple days away as of publishing this Communinet Signal, but we might as well start celebrating a little early. Almost one year ago, you stepped out into the unforgiving sands of Arrakis for the very first time. To those who have been with us since that first drop of spice: thank you for your incredible support and passion! Arrakis has evolved immensely, shaped directly by your feedback. The spice must flow, and our journey is just getting started.  

This week was ripe with all the announcements, so we hope that has you hyped for what’s to come in just a few months. If you’re new to these Communinet Signals, welcome! This is a space for us to share with everyone some amazing things from the community (buildings, fanart, and the like) as well as some interesting insight from the developer side (concept art or Q&A). You won’t find any new news or announcements, but rather a highlight of interesting things you might have missed. With plenty of pictures! 

We are so excited to finally let the Maud’dib out of the bag and announce our plans for console, single-player, and more. The official announcement was made during the State of Play stream earlier this week (which you can watch here), but you can read all about it in our blog post here;[duneawakening.com] we list not only everything you can expect in the September update, but also highlights of what we have released since the PC launch. All of which will be on console as well day one! Expect Dune: Awakening to arrive on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S as well as single-player for all platforms on September 22nd! 

Just like our first challenge, you all smashed the milestones for this one as well. Just log into the game before July 2nd 00:00 UTC and the Vivisectionist Bone Saw and Asteroid Harvester Maula Pistol variants will be applied to your account.

We featured the Planetologist concepts with the last Signal, so we’re going to focus on the Mentats for this one!  

For the Mentats we wanted them to hint at their mathematical training and also their relative high status monastic feel. We wanted this outfit to feel austere to a certain extent, with a sense of discipline. 

Early sketches were done by Gabriel Blain (ArtStation[www.artstation.com]) and the final design and production preparation were by Jenni Lambertsson (ArtStation[www.artstation.com]). 

Events 

We’ll be highlighting another community-driven event you can participate in if you’d like get in on the fun! These are held by the AWOO Guild, which you can find on Stoneheart. Here’s what they had to say. 

Q: What sorts of events can you expect to see? 
A: AWOO hosts weekly Saturday-night community events called “Stoneheart Nights,” featuring a series of challenges and competitions in which up to a hundred players compete for a chance to win game-changing prizes. Events include the “Shield Wall Circuit,” a high-stakes death race from the pub to the shieldwall and back; the “Spice Flow Road” Go-Kart Tournament, featuring intense 1v1 sandbike duels; the “Bumper Car Cage Match,” a last-player-standing battle; and various mini-games such as musical chairs, word scrambles, maze racing, and more. All while enjoying nostalgic jams, courtesy of their in-house live DJ. 

Q: When do these generally occur? 
A: Most Stoneheart Nights run from 10:30 pm CST to around 2:00 am CST on Saturdays, with some events continuing well into the morning. 

Q: Who can I contact or reach out to if I want to participate? 
A: Event hosts—including IllusiveMartyr, Moira, Daedalus Aurelius, and Gage—can be found throughout the week in the center of the Deep Desert (PVE), always happy to welcome and assist new denizens of the sands. AWOO Guild members are eager and excited to meet you and answer any of your Stoneheart Night inquiries!

Q: How did these events begin? 
A: What began as a single Gas Station in the center of the Stoneheart Deep Desert, intended to provide free resources and shelter to wayward travelers, has evolved into a massive community effort that none of the founding players could have anticipated. The Gas Station was widely embraced by the community, with players quickly becoming regulars, stopping by multiple times per day to refuel and chat with the live attendant. The Stoneheart community’s positive response was overwhelming! In the following weeks, the Gas Station expanded to include a Pub, a Parking Lot, a Racetrack, and a Maze, all built to host large-scale community events. Together, these additions form what players now call “AWOO Promenade.”

Looking for an exciting and enthralling tale from the dunes? Sleeper Jutro has recounted a thrilling story about their guild, The SpiceSniffers, and their Spice run in the PvP Deep Desert based on real events. Here is a small excerpt so you can see what you’re in for. Read on in Wattpad here[www.wattpad.com] to see how this ends! 

When the final cycle ended, it was time to evacuate. The SpiceSniffers were outnumbered. Six of them against at least fifteen opponents. They had to get the remaining spice and materials from the production machines out. They had to leave all at once, in three assault ornithopters and the rest in scouts. Whole hope was in that the Harkonnens scatter into smaller groups chasing each ornithopter separately. Two assaults ships were empty; the third, piloted by Jutro, was carrying materials from the production machines. Perhaps that was also a mistake; they have split the cargo. Now everything depended on her skill to reach Sector-A in one piece. 

They took off from the base. Jutro's booster chocked at the outlet, hurr, huurr, brrrr... She landed on a dune. She heard the sound of a lasgun mercilessly striking her right wing with a laser beam. She started the engine and booster once more, lifting the machine sharply upwards. The sound of the enemy's weapons fell silent and her cockpit was no longer illuminated by the purple light of the laser beam. This was the start of the chase. She knew that behind her, opponents were climbing onto scouts so they could fire at her with the Ancient Way or fly under her hull and destroy the chassis. She couldn't let that happen; if they destroyed the chassis, she'd be dead, the assault would be looted then devoured by the worm. 

For a while, it seemed as though no one was chasing her. However, she soon heard a message on the guild chat. 

"They're closing in, they're about to start firing. Don't slow down!"

 Keeper_93 flexes their creative abilities by creating structures with inspiration from the Dune 2000 game! This includes a construction yard, wind traps, spice refineries, barracks, warehouses, and so much more.

Xaphody has created an incredible cathedral gate bridge on the border of Mysa Tarill and The O'odham between two opposing cliff walls. They spent hours just making sure the stakes and spacing would have enough clearance for both height and width to sustain it. Make sure to check out more pictures here!

September is just a mere four months away and will be here in the blink of a spice-blue eye. We’re looking forward to welcoming future console players to Arrakis! Though this is a large update to look forward to, we have plenty of updates coming between now and then. We also have the first anniversary which is mere days away so please look forward to that!
