The game crash making you lose all your current run. Cheap Hades. No way to see your boon in a menu.

Ever played Hades and wondered "What if I could play this with friends?"? This game comes to solve that itch. It's got a nice amount of characters, weapons, abiilities, ultimates, upgrades, etc., in a way that it is nice to keep unlocking new stuff while you play.

Gameplay is nice and fluid, worked better than I expected for an action multiplayer game of this type.

I played Sworn because it was 4 player coop Hades, and it was pretty awesome.

The combat feels great. Attacks are responsive, dodges are satisfying, and putting together ridiculous builds with the huge variety of blessings is where this rouge like game really shines. The art style is gorgeous too. Every run looks like a fantasy painting.

The biggest strength is co op. Running through dungeons with friends, combining builds, and watching one person somehow become the entire team's damage output is a blast. It is one of the few rogue lites that genuinely feels designed around a full group.

That said, if you have played Hades, you are probably going to notice the similarities pretty quickly. The controls, progression, and boon system all feel very familiar. It takes inspiration from Hades to the point where it can be hard not to compare them.

Solo play can also be rough at times. Enemy scaling sometimes feels like it expects you to have friends helping out, which is unfortunate if you are playing alone. Nothing kills the excitement of a great run faster than a blessing Seal encounter deciding your carefully crafted build no longer gets to function.

The story is fine, but the Arthurian setting never grabbed me the same way Hades did. I was more invested in finding cool builds and seeing how broken I could make my character than I was in the narrative.

Overall, Sworn is a really fun roguelite with excellent combat, great co op, and tons of build variety. It borrows a lot from Hades, sometimes a little too much, but it still manages to be enjoyable in its own right. If you have friends to play with, it is an easy recommendation. If you are playing solo, expect a few moments where the game reminds you that bringing friends was probably the intended strategy.
