ABOUT Sultanate of Bağdat (Baghdad)

The Dynasty of Pfalz

An ethnically, culturally, and religiously diverse society.

Baghdad is a super-city of the World, a testament to the grandeur and power of the Caliphate, a dedicated program has been undertaken to expand and improve the city of Baghdad, culturally, materialistically, militaristically, and as a symbol of prestige and grandeur.
Utilizing the full resources of the Caliphate in this portion of the world, the city of Baghdad shall once again become a shining center of Islamic civilization.
The city itself is walled with a huge curtain wall, double walls in fact each over a hundred feet tall and just as thick, built of mud brick and an exterior of stone.
Although not capable of resisting sutained artillery bombardment, the sheer size of such walls make it an intimidating threat.
Inside the city numerous areas of damage control centers have been created, as well as underground shelters designed to ensure that casualties will be minimized in case of a bombardment.
They also serve as armories, so that civilians can be armed and sent to the walls to defend the city in case of attack.
A new, and modern program for the city also calls for a semi-grid
type system, where broad public avenues, the largest several hundred
feet across, run throughout the city.
Although smaller roads are much more humble, only a few dozens feet, they still represent a testiment to the organization and grace of the city. The neighborhoods themselves often are composed of ill organized streets and roads, but still the main public avenues are straight and well organized.
Other infrastructure includes major water supplies, with vast
underground cisterns enabling water to be stored in the city
throughout the year.
Public fountains are built above, to grace the city and ensure a steady supply of water for the citizens, while many of the middle class and upper class houses, and even a growing number of the poor thanks to government programs to provide subsidized housing for them, are blessed with running water.
